AYURVEDIC BODY OILS
CalmaTherapies offers a range of quality cold-pressed oils for the purpose abhyanga (self oil massage).
There is an oil to suit each Ayurvedic constitution: Sesame; Coconut; Sesame & Coconut blend.
Sesame Oil is excellent for dry skin and cool Vata types. It is nourishing, protective and heating to the body. It is high in minerals and anti-oxidants and has 40% natural UV protection. RRP 500ml - $17.00
Coconut Oil is light and moisturizing and most suited to warm Pitta types. It is cooling to the body and therefore helps calm skin inflammation and infection. It is excellent for the face, scalp and hair and contrary to common belief, pure coconut oil has no fragrance. RRP 500ml - $15.00
Sesame & Coconut Blend has the benefits of both oils but the heat of the sesame is reduced by the coolness of the coconut. Great for Pitta Vata types or anyone requiring extra nourishment without the additional heat. RRP $17.00
Castor Oil is thick, warming and soothing. It helps to nourish extremely dry skin and when used internally it is excellent for detoxification and relief from constipation. RRP 100ml - $5.00
** It is important to only use cold-pressed oils for consumption and external application, as this extraction method ensures that you recieve all the nutritional and medicinal properties that the oil has to offer. Cold pressing allows the oil to be extracted from the nut or seed whilst maintaining the highest level of nutrients. Oils that have been heat extracted have less nutrients, less healing properties and the potential to create toxins in the body.
